BSharp API · Early access
The BSharp API gives you read-only access to the deadlines, compliance statuses and SARS correspondence you already see in BSharp. Build your own tools, or enrich the CRM and dashboards you already use.

The problem
BSharp keeps each client's SARS information up to date. Your partner reports, dashboards and practice management system usually don't, because someone has to export the data and load it in.
01 / Exports
A spreadsheet reflects the day it was downloaded, not today.
02 / Re-keying
Someone copies statuses from BSharp into another system, client by client.
03 / Missed issues
A report built on old data can miss a new penalty or an outstanding return.
What the API does
Don't be forced into a specific process or someone else's idea of a system. The API gives you the freedom to build customised tools that work exactly the way you want, and to enrich the CRM and management dashboards you already rely on.
Take the data you need and use it in the way your practice already works, instead of changing how you work to fit a tool.
Build exactly what your team needs, from a weekly partner summary to a full internal app, in any programming language.
Add deadlines, compliance statuses and SARS correspondence to the client records your team already works from.
Show partners and managers compliance across the whole client base, in the dashboards they already open every day.
Each request is answered by BSharp when it is made, so your tools show what your team sees in BSharp. No exports, no conflicting numbers.
Integrations connect through OAuth. Admin approves each one, and can withdraw that approval at any time.
Security
Your clients' tax information is personal information. The API runs on the same infrastructure as BSharp, connects through OAuth, and can only read data, never change it.
BSharp is a SARS-approved ISV and POPIA compliant.
The API only shares data BSharp already holds for your practice, and it never connects to SARS on your behalf.
The API can't create, change or delete anything in BSharp.
Our team checks every developer account before activating it, and sign-in requires two-factor authentication.
Integrations connect with OAuth, so no BSharp passwords are shared. Each one only sees what the approving user can see, and access can be revoked at any time.
Every request is logged against your account, so you can see who accessed what and when.
Getting started is easy
The API reads the data in your BSharp account, so you'll need one first. Already on BSharp? Skip ahead.
Tell us who you are and which BSharp account you work with. We check every request before switching it on.
Authorise your integration with OAuth, open the docs and start building the tools you want.
Built for BSharp customers. The API extends BSharp. It isn't a separate product. You can use it to drive taxpayer compliance for your own practice or organisation, in the same way you use BSharp. It isn't an alternative route to SARS data, and it can't be resold, built into paid software or offered to anyone who doesn't use BSharp.
Your client data is safe.

The API is for BSharp customers, and the developers working for them, to drive taxpayer compliance using the same data and for the same purposes as BSharp. It isn't for:
No. The API doesn't hold any data of its own. Every request is answered directly by BSharp.
The API gives access to client tax data, so we confirm who you are and which BSharp account you work with before switching anything on.
Integrations connect through OAuth. Admin approves the connection, your integration receives a token instead of a password, and the practice can revoke access at any time.
No. The API is read-only, and it never contacts SARS on your behalf.
